Spreading Her Wings

wendi 2What would possess a woman to get her first and only tattoo at age 59?  Don’t judge  – till you’ve heard her story.

Like many women, by the time she reached her 50s, Wendi Knox was very familiar with reinvention and resilience. A former advertising executive who worked with top brands, she reinvented herself by creating her own brand of inspiration as an artist and writer, with her posts appearing on Maria Shriver’s website.

Still not satisfied, still seeking more, she wondered if her late 50s was just too late. As she tells WHOA co-founder Darryle Pollack, she found her answer and her inspiration in a surprising place and discovered it’s never too late to spread your wings and soar.

  1. What an honor to be winging it in this interview with one of my favorite dragonflies ever, co-founder @Darryle Pollack. I have been so blown away by the brilliant, uplifting, inspirational nature of this network. It’s so funny though. I was sitting here watching my interview and while my husband was chuckling about what I was saying and reacting to my spirit, all I could do is keep my eye on my neck (and various other wrinkles!) And then, I noticed right next to my picture was a headline about learning to love our necks. WHOA! It’s such a joy (and a relief) to know that we’re all in this together.

    • Very funny! LOVE that anecdote of watching your interview and l also loved doing it. Love your spirit and attitude and honesty; not to mention the absolutely fabulous feeling in your house and garden–a riot of color and creativity that truly inspires me. Thanks so much.

  2. Wendi,
Congratulations, what a wonderful interview. You are so right it’s never too late to make a change. After spending that last few years working with my Husband in our Insurance Brokerage ( a job I used to love) and realizing how much it no longer served me or our Financial Situation. I decided I would put together my Resume and get a job. It was time to change Careers and I was longing for something different and uplifting. I was hired as an Admissions Rep for a Vocational School helping young People and those returning to the work World to find a new and lucrative Career. For the first time in over 15 Years I am actually receiving a Salary and will receive Benefits shortly. Better than that I am working with a whole new group of interesting and caring People and am enjoying not being the “Boss” for once! Thanks for always inspiring me.

  3. What a great reinvention story, Holly. Thanks so much for sharing it; and for inspiring us!
